And I dream on......

It is raining heavily outside. I am sitting inside my centrally airconditioned office huddled up in a jacket to keep in the warmth. I can't help but think of what I would do if i was at home...


Having a hot cup of coffee (filter coffee) in my favorite black mug, accompanied by maybe hot pakoras onion/potato, or mirchi bajjis, even spicy nuts... curled up in my bed with a nice interesting book and music plugged into my ears, cuddled in my blanket... hmmm...

High hopes!!!


Instead of that I am sitting here and listening to my colleague who has taken the day off on how he is enjoying the climate... gah! and double gah!


I wish I were at home...


I wish I were at Kerala...


I wish I were anywhere but here....

While on the subject of Rajinikanth, another topic came to mind… His very well acclaimed ‘Chandramukhi’ which is a remake of ‘Manichitrathazhu’ in Malayalam. This particular film has been made in all 4 South Indian languages; ‘Manichitrathazhu’, the original (Malayalam), Apthamithra (Kannada), Chandramukhi (Tamil & Telugu), and Bhool Bulaiyya (Hindi). Very commendable effort indeed on the remakes. I haven’t had an opportunity to watch the movie in Kannada, though I heard that Soundarya the heroine gave a creditable performance as the split personality ridden heroine. But I did watch the other 3 and somehow maybe because I am partial to the original, I still liked the original a lot better than any of the remakes. Well of course maybe it’s bad to compare the movies, but I figure when you actually do a remake of a movie you will end up having comparisons made with the original. I for one thought that Chandramukhi was a whole lot of crap what with special effects and the whole Rajini ...

Food haunts in Hyderabad!!

Do you like street food? You know, like the roadside paani-puri stalls, the hawkers selling samosas, local tea stalls where they give you the tea in dirty tea glasses? Ah! I thought so! I like them too ... They taste really yummy!!! My exposure to street food began when I moved to Hyderabad for work. The flat that I was staying at earlier with my friends from college was in a lane that was filled with cheap and local food stalls where you get everything ranging from rotis to chicken to the ever-famous hyderabadi dum biriyani. Hyderabad has a lot of places where you can enjoy a great meal at reasonable dirt-cheap prices and the quality of the food will not be compromised upon either. But apart from that, for the street food that I am talking about, when and if you visit Hyderabad, do check out these places!  I guarantee that you will like it.  Now this list of places or eateries are not just street food or local delicacies. I have fallen here. Lying down in the dark, caught in the crevices of the vast Himalayan ranges, half-buried by snow. It’s only a few more hours before this test is over and Yudhishthira and the dog finish their climb to ascend Swarga. I knew this was coming. JUST LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE.
