Revival of blog - Step 1!! 55 Fiction!!

My heart skipped a beat when I saw you.

Boy, it was a Happy Birthday!!! :) :)

Ok! I tried .. Not so great an effort, but I still tried to write!! :)

One month to this day since my last post. Something that I keep repeating every few posts, rather every last few posts… it’s very hard these days to muster up the energy to pen something down. Thoughts are aplenty but when I have the inclination to write, I don’t have the laptop / blogger at my disposal and typing a blog post from my phone is something that I cannot ever do. It’s just too much trouble.. And then when I have the time on my side, the inclination to do something else other than blogging is much more stronger! Talk about conflicts of interest!! Every single time I see a blog post from a friend, or from someone I really look forward to reading in my reader, I feel a twinge of guilt. Just a twinge! Nothing too heavy for then you would have seen this place inundated with posts. But that twinge still persists …

Gotta do something about it!! Yep! And not just with tags!! Ok! See! I can guess what most of you who read this space think ;-) Yeah! I know I have been doing too many of the tags, and constructive writing, if there was any has taken a backseat … time to change all that!!

So how have things been with me? Pretty much consistent … work wise things are looking up! The rough bits are still there, sometimes a lot more than I’d like for it to be, but then who wants it to be all smooth sailing… 

I joined dance classes again .. Bollywood dance classes this time around with all the jhatkas and matkas and item numbers! No! I am not kidding! Pretty darn serious! :-) Yes! As if it was not enough that I did the bollywood dance for most of my graduation, this is taking it a tad too far as my mom put it..  She asked me, what’s there to learn in bollywood dancing..  Err.. turns out quite a bit! :P :P

As usual, we saw a couple of movies, some good, some bad..  among the good were Kahaani and 3. The year clearly belongs to Vidya Balan. And as for 3, there are few reasons why I liked the movie..  one being the songs, another being the chemistry between Dhanush and Shruti Hassan and then some scenes that were pretty well shot. But mainly the songs..  Kannazhaga is on top of my list now!!

Ok.. This post is getting too boring for even my own liking and I am one of the most narcissistic souls you will find!! It seems to me like I am giving you all an update on whats going on in my life! This is so not constructive writing..

I just finished reading the final part of Steig Larsson’s Millennium Trilogy. And I still say I liked the first book – The girl with the dragon tattoo – the best!!

Do you have any idea what you'll read when you're done with that?

I have a whole lot of books left on my shelves to read… Mriyunjaya by Shivaji Sawant, A million little pieces by James Frey, Tina Fey’s Bossy pants…. Probably one of these.

What's the worst thing you were ever forced to read?

Hmm.. Nothing.. If I don’t like a book, I give it up halfway sometimes. There are only 2 books so far that I have given up.. After trying to read them like 3-4 times. Ayn Rand’s Fountainhead is one of them! Yup! I can hear other book-lovers say Blasphemy!! :P :P

What's one book you always recommend to just about anyone?

Mario Puzo’s THE GODFATHER..!! :)

Admit it, sadly the librarians at your library know you on a first name basis, don't they?

Err.. No they don’t! Here in SG, definitely not! 

Is there a book you absolutely love, but for some reason, people never think it sounds interesting, or maybe they read it and don't like it at all?

I love fantasy books like Harry Potter, Twilight etc… And I have a whole lot of friends who think that I am silly or rather the books are silly and I am sillier to read them! :)

Yup! Sometimes..

Yes, they did. Because I was the happiest when I had a book. They made fun of me for reading so much! Sigh!

Have any books made you cry?

Not really!! Most of the times they just leave me with a ‘Wow! I never saw that coming expression!”

Right back at The Hindu .... with love from the TOI!!

This is sure getting interesting. But in my personal opinion, it does not have the same punch of The Hindu ads. This seems like a retort for the sake of it, and a weak one at that! I felt that the ads from The Hindu were a lot more solid and had a lot more ingenuity to them especially the Print Ads. This last one from the TOI seems desperate and a way to stay in the picture than a rejoinder.

But comeback or no comeback, the war is getting exciting and it sure is grabbing a lot of attention! ;-)

War of Brands, Words and Comebacks! :) :)

I have always liked ads! They are fun to watch! Only some of them though! Most of them are just crap! And calling them that is sugar coating it!

There are some that make you want to gag! And some that make you go Ugh!! And most of what comes out these days which have you thinking what the hell was that an ad for?

Then, there are a few that make you wonder about the amount of creativity and the attention to detail!! And the hard work that goes beyond it to capture the viewer’s attention for a span of 40-60 seconds! You definitely need flair for that!

So when this came out a little while ago, you could see that it was a cheap dig! And one below the belt at that!! 

And then this comes out as an answer to the above ad and all you can say is –

“Brilliant! What a comeback!!”

Tongue-in-cheek, hard-hitting and a befitting reply! 

And not one! Not two! But three!!! :-) :-)

A short post to say that "I am Alive" and oh yeah - Happy 2012!! :) :)

Err.. Hello.. Knock Knock!

Yes! I am very much alive and all is well and all that!

Happy 2012 to you too! Right, Ok! I know it’s almost the end of January and that I am just wishing you all (or whoever reads this blog nowadays!). But then, I just showed up here! After a long time. And there was no mandatory New Year post this time so if you think I can just start writing without wishing you a very happy 2012, then you’re mistaken. No! I am not being defensive! Just telling you!! Alright! Ok then! :D

My last post as usual was a while back and since then, nothing much has changed... Except that it’s a new year already! And touted to be the year that the world will end or some such thing! But let’s not discuss that! Let’s discuss what I have been up to, that I have neglected this space for more than 2 months. No big story or anything of that sort, just the usual stupid ol’ laziness!

I keep blogging in my mind all through the day, but when I sit in front of the laptop, nothing comes out and I don’t have the interest to sit and pen down whatever went through my mind! Weird eh!

2011 was a pretty good year compared to 2010. And it was a fast year. Like I literally saw how time flies! 2011 was nothing special in terms of what happened. But it was good overall. Close friends expanded their families with some adorable lil’ ones, I made some new friends, I introspected a lot, had a lot of good times with friends, had a couple of good holidays and of course a steady job which was the most important thing on my list last year! :) So all in all, it was great. Wrapped up 2011 with an awesome holiday with the folks back in India and started 2012 with another holiday to Langkawi in Malaysia with a few friends.

So that’s pretty much what I have been up to… How have you all been? :) :)

And yes! Ok! I will post more often. Like always, that’s on my list of resolutions. Oh yes! I have a few resolutions this year too! But until I kinda get started on them all, I am gonna keep mum about it! :D

Yes, 2012 does seem to be a promising year with a great start!
